Jean-Marie Rausch

Mayor of Metz (1971-2008)

Mayor of Metz (71-08), Senator (74-01), President of the Regional Council of Lorraine (82-92), Secretary (Ministre) of Commerce (88-91) and Telecommunications (91-92) in the French Government. In the 80’s, Jean-Marie Rausch was instrumental in the creation of a Technopôle in Metz focused on telecommunications.

Dr. Jacques Faudon

Vice-Mayor of Metz and President, Georgia Tech Lorraine (1990-1999)

Jacques Faudon was one of the key players in establishing Georgia Tech Lorraine, working closely with Lorraine officials, in particular with Mayor Jean-Marie Rausch, Dominique Schmitt (Directeur Général des Services de la Région Lorraine, and now Préfet of the Aquitaine Region),

Dr. Hans B. “Teddy” Püttgen

President, Georgia Tech Lorraine (1990-2006)

Teddy Püttgen, a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech until 2006, was named Director (1990-1999) and President (1999-2006) of GTL. Dr. Püttgen was instrumental in shaping GTL’s academic programs, establishing strategic partnerships with top institutions in Europe(Supélec, Ecole des Mines, ENSAM ParisTech, INPT, INPL, UTC, TUM, U. Brescia,and others), offering graduate degrees for French and US students.

Dr. François Malassenet

Director, Georgia Tech Lorraine (1999-2005)

Adjunct Faculty and Academic Coordinator of GTL (1992-1999), Director of GTL (1999-2005). A graduate of Georgia Tech and of Supéelec, Dr. Malassenet launched the development and implementation of the double degree Master and Ph.D. programs with Georgia Tech’s European academic and corporate partners. He was Teddy Püttgen’s closest associate during the critical phase of the initial growth of GTL. His tireless efforts and dedication to GTL were an essential ingredient to thethe success of GTL. His leadership helped turn Georgia Tech’s vision into reality. . Dr. Malassenet is currently Director of R&D at Troxler Laboratories, in North Carolina, USA.

Dr. Jean-Lou Chameau

President, Georgia Tech Lorraine (2006)

Jean-Lou ChameauPresident of GTL (2006), Dean (1997-2001) and Provost (2001-2006) of Georgia Institute of Technology and currently President of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), USA. As dean and Provost of Georgia Tech, Dr. Chameau was a strong advocate of international ventures in education, research, and economic development.

Dr. Yves Berthelot

Director (2006) and President (2006-present)

A professor in the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Georgia Tech since 1985, Dr. Berthelot was instrumental in bringing ME to GTL in 1997, in particular through a close partnership with ENSAM-ParisTech. Dr. Berthelot spearheaded the launch of the year around undergraduate program at GTL and the international plan, with subsequent record growth in enrollment at all levels (BS, MS, and Ph.D.).

Dr. Abdallah Ougazzaden

Director, Georgia Tech Lorraine (2010) and GT-CNRS UMI 2958 (2006 - present)

Under the leadership of Dr. Ougazzaden, the UMI has 3 EU projects under the 7th Framework of the European Commission, 7 research grants from the French Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), and participates in research funded by Thalès, Schlumberger, Orange France Telecom, Leach Esterline International, among others.
