Education

GTL

The academic programs at GTL are identical to those on the main campus in Atlanta. They are taught in English by Faculty from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  Faculty members are assigned to GTL by Georgia Tech.  All applicants apply directly to the Georgia Institute of Technology the same way as for American students. The degrees are delivered by the Georgia Institute of Technology. Courses are taught all over the year, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

An American University at the heart of Europe

The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) is a public university of the University System of Georgia focused on top-ranked programs in Science and Technology. Georgia Tech has the largest engineering enrollment in the United States, and it is ranked # 4 in the nation's top five by US News and World Report and is ranked #8 on the list of the top 100 world universities in engineering and technology sciences, according to Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

Research

In 2006, the Georgia Institute of Technology and the CNRS created the first joint research center in France, UMI GT-CNRS 2958, initially located at GTL but also set up on Atlanta campus in 2008. The founding associate partners are the University Paul Verlaine of Metz, the University of Franche-Comté, ENSAM-ParisTech, and Supelec. UMI American and French scientists have created a unique worldwide cultural laboratory, aiming at taking up technological challenges of the 21st century (energy, health, environment, security).

Technological innovation and Economic development

In order to complete its academic programs and research activities, GTL is strongly committed to the creation of the Lafayette Institute. Its mission is to develop an “eco-system” designed for the creation of high tech companies in optoelectronic.
